Main application:

Small scale simulation of metal solidification, forming, heat-treatment , and bonding processes. Physical and mechanical characterisation of metals.

Instrument specification

Heating rate:
Up to 10.000°C/sec (for welding simulations, depending on sample size)

Displacement rate:
Up to 2000mm/s (depending on load)

Maximum stroke:
250mm (+/- 0.025mm) (depending on sample length)

Maximum load:
In tension 100kN, in compression 200kN. 4 different ranges load cells

Cooling rate:
Up to 250°C/sec (depending on material and sample size, quench media)

Maximum sample rate:

Atmospheric conditions:
Rough/high vacuum, all kinds of protective gasses

Sample sizes and shapes:
Round, hollow, and square shapes, maximum cross-section area 125mm2, maximum length 250mm

Measured parameters:
Displacement, dilatation, temperature (3 couples of any kind + 1 infrared pyrometer) , force.

Other devices:
Hot zone LVDT, Dilatometer LVDT, thermal couple spot welder.

Digitally controlled force or displacement system.

Steady state equilibrium temperatures within +/- 1°C
